Freedom Challenge (affiliated with Adult & Teen Challenge Oklahoma) is a faith-based, life skills program that addresses an inmate’s life-controlling issues. Freedom Challenge Mabel Bassett was founded in 2021 and consists of women’s pod inside of Mabel Bassett Correctional Facility where the ladies are discipled in a nine-month program. The program applies biblical principles to inmates everyday life in order to help them overcome the issues that led to their incarceration. Freedom Challenge is currently developing an aftercare component that contains mentoring and community resources inside, as well as outside of the prison. The program’s mission is “setting prisoners free”; not from prison itself, but from the life-controlling issues that placed them there. In Freedom Challenge inmates are surrendering their lives to Christ and deepening their commitments to live a better life.
